Category: Other
Date/Time: Tue Dec 03 22:28:20 2024

Character: Level 125 Monk (Main)
Zone: The Theater of Eternity
Location: 0.56, -325.20, -0.69, 130.28

Description: The Quest is We Have to Go back!. So I camped out cause my maps were nto working int he middle of the quest and my pouch with Crab Rations in it poofed as they are marked no zone. So the quest bugged and I ended up dropping it, and then camping, then regetting the quest. But Upon Reget no Crab meat is given, and No hawk Meat, and no Scalewrought Scales either. I cannot Progress on this quest at the current time. Thanks for your consideration

(Edit: OK so when i regot the quest, I had not destroyed the supply pouch, this is what bugged me) I destroyed everything and started over again, and with the supply pouch, the items once again started dropping. )

I zoned back before clicking combine and it destroyed all my stuff. I didn't even realize no zone was a flag, especially for quest items.

I think whoever made that decision should stand in front of a mirror and ask themselves why am I like this.

Curious if those that complain about the number of quest items that have dropped over the years (you know who you are) influenced this type of behavior. Sometimes I wish my fellow EQ players (and devs) would remember K-I-S-S instead of trying to make things more complicated than they need to be. Things happen in life sometimes and you need to log.

I know it's no consolation but thanks for alerting me to this fact. Never in a million years would have looked for a no zone flag. Really dislike this item behavior.

I would never think to check quest items for a no zone flag. Our pick went down before we were finished and we lost all our progress. It's at least a fairly quick quest but for a full group it's not nothing. It's not like we can control picks going down, especially beginning of an expansion with the populations fluctuating as much as they are. Just kind of put a damper on our fun night of progress.

Yes this needs fixing. Not only do the items disapear - but the task is then stuck at Combine Bag. you cant go back and get drops because nothing drops until you just delete quest and reget it.

Same. I agree that having endless quest items that you have to delete is annoying. But dying and zoning into guild lobby poofs your quest items… or picking zone to a zone with less Pace, NO THANK YOU.

They could have just made each turn in backpack permanent. Leaving the feathers, meat, and scales NO ZONE wasn’t that big of deal. But having the combined backpack things no zone breaks the quest.

No, they can clear quest items from your bags upon completion. Many tasks do that. No zone is more so you can't stockpile raid script items and such, not to clean up quest items from your inventory.

'No zone' is to punish players for their pick collapsing, even though they have no control over whether their pick collapses.

Exceptionally poor decision making. DB needs to get rid of it.

Another example of where DB can get more accomplished by doing nothing to begin with. Better decision making/QA is needed.

This is more of a problem with this quest's design (the items for it) rather than the "No Zone" tag in particular. There are a few raids that could easily be trivialized without it.

The items could just have the no zone flag changed to the temporary flag instead if they want to not have them stay in bags forever as well, then you could still continue to work on the quest while being logged in even if you zone. You'd just lose them if you logged out too long.

Still not great imo but at least it keeps the same general idea if they wanted them to stay around forever.

My merc died, I gated, my Aureate Weapon Repair Supplies poofed.....now I have to drop task and do it over. Yes, I hope the Devs change this "no zone" aspect of this. Of course, I did not learn of this no zone until I looked up this task up in the forums because I was missing an item for the final combine.

Sometimes, people run out of time and need to log. I really hope this gets changed.

I'm betting it will

This is my version of the story of We Have to Go Back. I engaged the task with a group of three who did also. I had an inventory crisis, and went to Guild Hall to resolve it. I had completed the crab meat portion, having done the turn in receiving a black “bag” for those efforts. In preparing to return, I saw that no longer did I have the black “bag”. I read on a website about the poof problem when zoning. I had no understanding that this could even occur. I engaged the quest a second time; finding that no crab meat would drop. I dropped the task again, thinking that player error was a possibility. I engaged the task again. Once again, no crab meat dropped. Furthermore, as a test, we killed some mobs dropping scales; they did not drop either. For an even further test, another of the group (who had previously completed the task) engaged it again. With me in the group no components would drop. He excluded me from the group; even then no components dropped. We conclude that it was not player error but a bug.

Edit to add that I thought that the quest giver might recognize a missing item problem and replace what was previously there. That did not work, despite posing the problem in a couple of ways.

At least you got them to drop. I've killed close to 100 crabs and haven't gotten the first crab meat yet.
Do you actually have the task on that step, or are you trying to pre-loot? I don't think it drops unless you have the task. Full group of 6 last night and every crab dropped 6, which is what you need to loot.

I started this quest last night at about 1 am worked at it for a little while and then gated to guild hall to go to bed. I had about 5 Kaiju left to kill to complete today. I guess I should have just not played last night, as I have to start from scratch now.
