Confirmed pets in missions

I went ahead and made a list of boss NPCs from RoS to CoV. I figure if its a bug and pets should be able to tank in missions its a good start for anyone wanting to look into it. I've personally test the RoS + TBL ones. But if its a per mob basis I assume you can check their setting? Either way if more testing is needed, again assuming pets are supposed to be able to tank, I don't mind going into missions I can get into to test/check.

Edit the mob post on page 6. Sorry for the bumps/updates. Its been set to info needed. So I'm trying to gather it.

I fully understand an expansion is currently being worked on. But why hasn't this at least been acknowledged? You have players spending their own time trying to help you test the mobs and no one has said a word. There are other bug posts that get immediate attention. This one is 2 years old, has been acknowledged in beta AND fixed in beta for other expacs. It's obviously not working as intended. Tank mercs are not an option. They don't tank well, they die easily and they don't follow mechanics for achievements.

Referencing something I said in this post. https://forums.everquest.com/index....pets-to-tank-in-missions.307136/#post-4422838
The patch we assume start this whole thing in 2015 would have been a month into TBM. TBM seems to work fine. Everything past that, starting in the next expansion EoK has not. My assumption is TBM was already made and when they patched they adjusted the pet toggle. In EoK + I assume the devs kinda forgot about it. I assume they make raids first, then "dumb them down" as group missions. Which means they likely copy/paste NPC's from the raid into the mission then adjust their stats to perform in group play but did not adjust the pet toggle.

If something like this is the case I would think it's easy enough to go through and toggle the pet behavior. If the group/raid NPC's are linked in someway I could see it being a pain and a reason its not been acknowledged.

Keep in mind I don't know anything about coding etc. Its all a guess but hoping to bring some light to the problem.

You guys are fixing this in new expacs. Can you look into old expacs starting in EoK please? Generally EoK through around ToB I think is the first newer expansion that pets tank properly in.
As always a years long bug is ignored but same day posts get attention. It means they've read this and don't care enough to comment or make it right.

As a mage I'd love for the anti pet mechanics to be removed from all non raids, but perhaps their philosophy has changed and they're only doing it going forward? Or perhaps the new expansion that launched 3 days ago simply takes precedent over many expansions old content. My personal opinion is this was not really intended but it's such a large time sink to go find each event, qa test, etc that if it does get retroactively changed it will be during the slow times.

[...]perhaps their philosophy has changed[...]

If we could get a public acknowledgement of what that philosophy ever is or was, I'd buy that for a nickel.

Since we're 2 years into a bug report for a mechanical behavior that's been present for a decade and we can't even get a "Confirmed" or "Not a Bug" tag, that seems unlikely, as is "they're working on bugs for the latest expansion."

Yeah IDK..the issue was present in OB and SoR missions and both were fixed after identified during beta/early release. Not sure what other reason they could have for not doing anything for the rest other than "we don't have time (at the moment)". Not that them stating that would satisfy or please anyone more than saying nothing.,..

If you think about it I've personally done the testing for a couple expansion and I was willing to do more. Some xpacs only have 4 missions or so. With GM powers its not hard to get into the instance and test the mobs. If they confirmed it was a bug and needed more assistance I'd be willing to hit test and gather more where I could. I do agree with everything you said but also disagree that them saying something wouldn't satisfy us.

Right now its expac time so ya their time is taken up. But this post start a long time ago with no acknowledgement. There was plenty of time throughout the year just to say something. And people willing to help in the effort. To me its obvious its a bug as they fixed it in ToB and SoR. So EoK - LS would have to be looked at. I know its a lot but I assume it wouldn't take a dev more then a few hours of time. If I could run through EoK through ToV in a few hours with no GM time they could probably fly through it.

But first we really need confirmation.

Pet tanking in SoR missions is just silly. Even a buffless enc pet makes missions trivial. I don't know what the devs were thinking by listening to this craziness.

You mean fixing it? Not so crazy if thats how its supposed to be. A pet would be the same as having a tank class. Except the tank can do more. So if its trivial with a chanter pet I'd imagine its trivial with a war/pal/sk.

Adding Delmare Undertow to the list. This is a named mob in the Sirens Grotto area of Cobalt Scar (CoV). Ignored pet tanking. It is possible the mob was bugged in other ways as it was engaged but not showing up on the hate list. The merc ressed while in combat as well.

As more and more people leave TLP's in these era's, and especially with the new TLP's opening soon that will draw more people away, it would be nice to have this looked into.

Another test patch and this was not addressed. Either in a patch or acknowledged by devs. Its been 3 years since the original post. Others have pointed out the issues. Its been fixed in newer expansions. Why hasn't anyone at least comment here about it?
